66 - Tusky Nips Port Washington 63-60 (1-10-66)
TUSCARAWAS - Port Washington (2-5) put on a temendous 4th quarter rally Saturday night, but ran out of time and fell to Tuscarawas (6-4). The Broncos held a 21-point lead, 60-39, when the Purple Riders of Coach George Thomas began pulling out all the stops in their bid for victory. But the Charles Etling-coached Broncos were able to hold on just long enough.
Tuscarawas hit well in the 1st quarter and led 20-18 at the stop. It had a 39-29 lead at the half and was on top 52-40 going into the final frame. The Broncos committed many turnovers in the 4th quarter. Dave Paisley paced the Bronco scoring attack with 21 points. Ray McWilliams added 16 and John Bihari 12. High for the Purple Riders was Rich Fillman with 22. Steve Bender contributed 13. Tuscarawas hit on 26 of 79 action tries and 11 of 22 fouls. Port Washington was 21 for 50 and 18 for 27, respectively. The Tuscarawas Reserves (7-3) blew away the Port Washington Reserves, 57-22.
