Members of Tuscarawas Valley High School's Basketball Team this season are: Manager Tim Kieffer, Manager Mike Pingstock, Ray Nist, Tom Studer, Dave Clugston, Chuck Fishley, Joe Deubner, Dick Harvey, Terry Hay, Harold Swinford, Dan Burrier, Larry Adams, Terry Symons, Jeff Martin, Assistant Coach Larry Foltz and Head Coach Bill Frye.
ZOARVILLE - Tuscarawas Valley (2-4) made a gallant effort to even its record in 6 games Saturday night, but in the end wound up on the short side of a decision to rugged Conotton Valley (5-2). The 2 teams battled an extra period. Conotton Valley led at all the regular stops, 17-14, 22-18 and 35-33. The Trojans pulled even at 40-40 with 1:56 left in regulation time and then the Rockets played for the final shot, but missed. Tuscarawas Valley broke on top 4-0 on shots by Joe Deubner and Terry Hay. Then the Rockets took advantage of the fouls and canned 7 of 8 at the charity stripes to vault into the lead. The score was knotted 28-28 and 31-31 in the 3rd canto. The Trojans battled back to tie the count 36-36 with 5:38 left and it was 38-38 at 3:11.
In overtime, it was 42-42 with 2:28 to go, then Dick Harvey dropped in a foul shot to put the Bill Frye-coached Trojans on top. John Conner swished a goal for the Rockets and Deubner did likewise to again put Tuscarawas Valley on top, 45-44. But, the Trojans' hopes were washed out with 48 seconds remaining when Jim Monigold found the range for Errol Jacob's lads. Deubner emerged as Tuscarawas Valley's top scorer, getting 12 points. Ray Nist followed with 10. High for the Rockets was Conner with 15. A step behind at 14 was Monigold. Larry Adams pulled in 11 of Tuscarawas Valley's 30 rebounds. The Trojans made 18 of 53 action tries for 33 percent and 9 of 15 fouls. The Rockets were 22 of 30 from the foul lines. That's where they won the game,as they had 6 less field goals than theTrojans. Twenty personals were called against theTrojans and 12 against the Rockets. The Conotton Valley Reserves whipped the Tuscarawas Valley Reserves 35-20
