65 - Garaway Grad Gets Cage Job (Bob Raber)
Springfield High School Head Coach - Bob Raber (Garaway High School Alumni)
AMSTERDAM - Bob Raber, whose 424 points carried Garaway High to a 21-5 record and the District Tournament finals in 1961, has been named Head Basketball Coach at Springfield Local High near Amsterdam. A graduate of Bluffton College just this year, Raber played golf and basketball there and this past season helped the school to its best record ever in basketball. He also will teach mathematics at Springfield High. Raber, namedGaraway's Co-Most Valuable Player along with Tom Andreas his Senior year, replaces Gary Crowe who resigned to accept the head basketball coaching job at Sandy Valley High. Raber was named to The Daily Reporter and Tuscarawas CountyClass A League All-Star teams in 1961. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Raber of Sugarcreek.
