65 - Gnaden Splits Doubleheader With Willington (5-22-65)





GNADENHUTTEN - Gnadenhutten High (15-4) ended its baseball season with a gleaming record Saturday by splitting a doubleheader with the Willington Hurricanes.  Te Tribe wonthe opener 2-1 behind Bill Kohl's 17-strikeout performance (78), but lost the nightcap 11-7.  Kohl allowed only a ground single, and walked 2 (12).  Jim Jinks (3-2) was the loser in the 2nd game, permitting 11 hits (26), passing 5 (10) and striking out 6 (28).  Kohl got Jinks out of a 3rd inning jam.  In the 1st tussle, Fred  Glass had a double (1) and single (1) and Terry Huebner lashed out 2 singles (13) for the Indians.  Gnadenhutten, coached by Ted Martin, scored the winning run in the 5th when Gary Rice squeezed in Gene Bates who had walked.
