66 - Garaway Blasts Ridgewood 70-59 (1-15-66)





WEST LAFAYETTE - Garaway (8-2) put another feather in its hat Saturday night, turning back tough Ridgewood (7-3).  The Pirates of Coach Glenn Bower needed accurate shooting from the foul lines for the victory and they responded with 25 "hits" in 33 tries.  Both teams had 22 field goals, Garaway in 54 tries for 41 percent and Ridgewood in 70 tries for 32 percent.  Ridgewood made 15 of 23 fouls.  Rebounds favored the rugged Pirates 48 to 27, with Dan Andreas pulling in 27 and brother Dave snaring 12.  The Andreas boys also were tops in the scoring department, Dan getting 23 and Dave 12.  Pacing Ridgewood's offensive was Stiers with 12 points. 

Garaway edged in front 14-12 at the 1st stop, hiked that to 30-20 by the half and was on top 53-34 going into the final frame.  The talented Pirates held a 21-point advantage early in the 4th quarter.  The Pirates host Port Washington Friday andgreet West Holmes Saturday.   The Ridgewood Reserves started the night off by jolting the Garaway Reserves 55-40.
