66 - Midvale Pins Tusky Valley 70-39 (12-22-65)

The forces behind the vocal support for Tuscarawas Valley High School's basketballers this season are:  Barbara Ross, Marcia Class, Frankle Dunn, Donna Robinson, Karen Dillon and Cathy Nines.  Their next "assignment" is tonight when the Trojans visit Midvale.

An unidentified Blue Devil just misses making a "shoestring tackle" on this Trojan during last night's basketball game.  Trojan Chuck Fishley is also shown.

MIDVALE - Tuscarawas Valley (2-5), suffering an acute case of fumbleitis, a rare affliction with Trojan grid combinations, became Midvale High's 7th basketball victim last night when the Blue Devils (7-1) romped to another verdict.  The Blue Devils, who now have won 5 straight, have improved their sparkling record.  Tusky Valley have now lost their 3rd in a row.  That vaunted Midvale press off a man-to-man defense never allowed the Trojans in the ball game.  They turned the ball over to the Blue Devils 28 times on bad passes.

Midvale breezed to an 18-6 first period lead.  With Chuck DeMattio scoring 17 points, Bill Hibbs 14 and Harvey Byers 12, the Blue Devils coasted to the decison.  Larry Adams was high point man for the losers with 11.  From  the field, Midvale canned 27 of 59 tries for 46 percent, while adding 16 of 39 foul shots.  Tuscarawas Valley lhit the 42 percent mark by making 15 of 35 floor shots.  It added 9 charity tosses in 15 opportunities.  Midvale returns to action Tuesday night when it travels to Conotton Valley.  Tuscarawas Valley is idle until January 7th when it entertains Gnadenhutten (2-5).  The Midvale Reserves rammed the Tuscarawas Reserves 46-32.
