TUSCARAWAS - "It will be good to get back home."  Any basketball filbert could readily understand Coach Art Teynor's thoughts as he gets his Ramblers (3-3) ready for Saturday night's contest against Guernsey Catholic.  St. Joseph's, rolling along with a 3-0 record, including 2 at home, tumbled for the 3rd straight time on visiting territory last night as Tuscarawas (3-3) took the decision.  The Ramblers play 4 consecutive home games before hitting the road January 21, going to Zanesville to play Rosecrans.  Tusky, under Coach Charles Etling, visits Adamsville Friday and hosts Kidron Central Christian Saturday.

Last night's contest was a nail-biter all the way, with the outcome undecided until the final buzzer.  The lead changed hands 7 times and the count was tied on 10 occasions.  Tuscarawas was on top most of the way and enjoyed the biggest lead of the game, 54-47, early in the 3rd quarter when the Ramblers missed 11 straight field goal tries.  Ability to can pressure shots provided the Broncos with the win, as their last 10 points came at the foul line.  For the night, Tuscarawas canned 31 of 72 field goal tries for 43 percent and made 19 of 34 fouls.  St. Joseph's was 28 of 72 from the floor for 38 percent and 23 of 30 from the foul lines.  Twenty-five personals were called against the Ramblers and 15 against the Broncos.  John Bihari, former Stone Creek standout, paced the Bronco attack with 26 points.  Many came from in close as he would either drive the baseline or take a feed from a teammate.  Ray McWilliams followed with 16 points, Brent Lehigh 12 and Jim McCauley and Dave Paisley 11 each.  Larry Smith was high for the Ramblers, netting 21 points.  Dave Myers garnered 19, Al Antonelli 15 and Mickey McCracken 13.

McWilliams was a real workhorse under the boards, hustling for 19 rebounds.  Bihari pulled in 13; although, sitting out most of the 3rd quarter because he had 4 personal fouls.  McWilliams also had 4 personals in the 3rd quarter, but was able to finish as were McCauley and Lehigh.  St. Joseph's suffered a severe jolt late in the 3rd canto when "quarterback" McCracken drew his 5th personal and was forced to leave the action.  Denny Capozalia went out for the same reason late in the final frame and Smith, Myers and substitute Rich Bollini all ended with 4 personals.  The Ramblers played without the services of 1st substitute Pat Antonelli who was injured in the Strasburg game Saturday night.  Myers scored St. Joseph's first 5 points on  a foul and a pair of goals from inside the key.  Paisley put Tuscarawas ahead for the 1st time, 8-7 at 4:50, by driving down the baseline.  It was back and forth until Lehigh broke a 22-22 deadlock.  The Broncos held the upper hand by scant margins until McCracken dumped in a foul to tie it 39-39 and then scored from the floor to put St. Joseph's on top 41-39.  McWilliams tied it 45-45 at the outset of the 3rd canto and then Paisley dropped in a goal from the corner.  The Broncos stayed in front until Capozella fired in a 2-pointer from mid-court to make it 58-57.  The Rambler lead was short-lived, as McWilliams rebounded in a stray mid-court shot by Fred Rausch at the buzzer.  St. Joseph's never led again; although, it did manage to pull even at 71-71 when Antonelli hit from the corner at 2:34.  Bihari sank a pair of fouls and the Broncos kept the lead the rest of the way.  The Bronco reserves also won, 84-49,with Butch McCauley tossing  in 24 points.  Rambler Mark Nelson had 18.
