66 - On The Court With The Gnadenhutten Indians

Gnadenhutten High School's basketballers will open the season with Newcomerstown and leading the Indian vocal support will be Cheerleaders:  Sue Mathias, Chris Fawcett, Sherry Couts, Glenda Kohl, Janet McCreary and Pat Schumacher.

GNADENHUTTEN - Improvement is the password for this season's Gnadenhutten High basketballers as they seek to improve on last year's 6-13 record.  Two lettermen from last season return...Juniors Dan Jinks (6-0) and Bill Kohl (6-0).  Lost via graduation were Terry Heubner, Gene Bates, John Parrish and Gary Rice.  Hoping to aid the cause are Seniors 6-3 John Ridgeway, 6-0 Ken Morrison, 5-11 Frank Miller and 5-11 Don Baker; Juniors 6-0 Wayne Martin, 5-9 Don Finnicum, 5-8 Mike Kail and 5-7 John Carpenter; and Sophomores 5-11 Ken Huprich, 5-10 Dan Bosley and 5-10 Dick Brown.

Indian 4 year Coach Oren Thompson says:  "Lack of experience and height definitely hinder us this year.  We will have to rely on Kohl to carry the scoring load and Morrison to do the bulk  of the rebounding.  This is one of the toughest schedules for a Gnadenhutten team in recent years and it should be a challenge to the boys."
