66 - Strasburg Drops East Canton 77-61 For 11th Win (1-22-66)

STRASBURG - All-Ohio candidate John Studer whipped in 27 points Saturday night to lead talented Strasburg (11-2) to victory over East Canton.  Strasburg will host the all-important Midvale game Friday night.  Studer, a 6-3 Junior, tossed in 12 field goals and 3 fouls to hike his season point total to 346.  He got amble support from Ed Rusk with 17 points and Mike Rieger with 12.

The tough Tigers took a narrow 17-16 lead at the 1st stop, hiked that to 39-26 by the half and were on top 56-44 going into the final frame.  Strasburg began pulling away midway through the 2nd stanza when it was able to work for the good shot as East Canton went into a press.  Ed Yackey again was rugged under the boards, pulling down 16 rebounds.  Studer snared 13.  Rieger played an outstanding all-around game and Chuck Jones continues to shine as a playmaker.  The Tigers hit on 56 percent of their action attempts and made 21 of 35 fouls.  East Canton dropped in 42 percent of its floor shots and was 9 for 21 at the foul lines.  The Strasburg Reserves peppered the East Canton Reserves with a 50-32 win.
