66 - Midvale Wins Track Meet (4-19-66)

MIDVALE - Harvey Byers, Bob Carlisle and Chuck DeMattio combined for 57 points yesteday to power Midvale by 3 track foes.  The Blue Devils, coached by Burt Beaber,  piled up 82 points to 63.5 for Garaway, 39.5 Gnadenhutten and 39 Port Washington.  Byers accounted for 22 points, winning the 220-Yard Dash' High Jump and Broad Jump and finishing  2nd in the 100-Yard Dash to Francis Krantz of Gnadenhutten.  DeMattio took firsts in both hurdle events and 2nd in the Discus and Pole Vault for 20 points.  Carlisle accounted for 15 points, winning the Shot Put and Discus and taking 3rd in the High Jump.  His throw of 145 feet in the Discus is believed to be a record for Tuscarawas County Class A tracksters.
