66 - Garaway Mops-Up Against Malvern 66-37 (2-28-66)

Garaway's Terry Gerber (23) tries to block a shot by Malvern's John Savona.  Ready to spring into action are Pirates Jim Young (21) and Dan Andreas.

Garaway's Dan Andreas goes high for a rebound.  Others in photo are Pirates Dave Andreas (25) and Don Richardson (35) and Green Hornets Roger Hamilton and Glenn Clark (32).

DOVER - Garaway (16-4) followed the script perfectly in turning back an undermanned Malvern combination to gain its Sectional Finals spot.  The Pirates breezed to a 16-5 first quarter advantage and steadily increased their lead, scoring 16 points in each of the 2nd and 3rd stanzas.  Dan Andreas, Garaway's All-Ohio candidate, was just too much for the Hornets to handle.  He poured in 27 points, making 13 field goals in 27 attempts, added one of 4 free throws and pulled down 22 rebounds.  The remainder of Coach Glenn Bower's crew provided plenty of support; although, none ended in double figures.  Garaway, at times, had its fast break working to perfection and stormed to a number of easy baskets.  Malvern was pesky, but no match for the Pirates.  Bucky Monroe's 11 points topped the Hornet offensive.  It was Garaway's 6th straight victory since a February 5th defeat at the hands of Class AA Riverview Black Bears.
