66 - Gnadenhutten Takes Out Tusky 53-48 (2-8-66)

ZOARVILLE - Gnadenhutten (5-12) snapped its 4-game losing steak and improved their record last night by squeezing out a victory over Tuscarawas Valley (5-11).  The Trojans visit Port Washington (4-8) Friday, then end season play Saturday at Tuslaw.  Gnadenhutten will wind up pre-tournament actin Friday by hosting Garaway in a league game.

Bill Frye's hustling Trojans put on a dazzling rally late in  the game, but couldn't quite catch the Oren Thompson-coached Indians who held a 42-30 lead going into the final frame.  The Tribe was on top 12-8 at the 1st stop and 30-18 by the half.  Gnadenhutten dropped in 20 of 33 action tries and 13 of 28 fouls.  Tuscarawas Valley also drilled in 20 field goals, in 50 attempts, but got just 12 foul shots and made 6.  There were 30 personals called, 19 on the Trojans.  Tuscarawas Valley committed 11 turnovers and pulled in 31 rebounds.  Gnadenhutten was guilty of 11 turnovers and snared 15 rebounds.  Dan Jinks led the Indians in board work with 6.  Dan Burrier grabbed 12 for the Trojans.  Pacing the Indian attack was Bill Kohl with 18 points.  Jinks followed with 17.  High for the Trojans was Ray Nist with 20 points on 9 field goals and 2 fouls.  He was the onlyl Trojan in double figures.  The Tuscarawas Valley Reserves won their game, 35-31, over the Gnadenhutten Reserves.
