66 - Garaway Blasts Howard 71-43 (2-12-66)

Garaway's Don Richardson tries to "tie up" an unidentified Howard cager.

SUGARCREEK - Garaway (13-4) hiked its record to 13-4 Saturday night by whipping a scrappy but outmanned Howard quintet (4-13), 71-43.  The Pirates got a 38-point performance from talented Dan Andreas who seems determined to repeat as an All-Ohioan.  He made 17 of 23 field goals and 4 of 7 fouls.  Seven other Pirates contributed to the scoring, but none hit double figures.  Garaway jumped off to a 16-4 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, led 31-23 at the half and broke the game wide open in the 3rd quarter to lead 52-36 going into the finale.  The Pirates of Coach Glenn Bower hit on 32 of 66 action attempts for 48 percent and made 7 of 14 fouls.  Howard made 19 of 53 from the floor for 35 percent and sank 5 of 17 fouls.  Rebounds favored the talented Pirates 32 to 13, with Dave Andreas pulling in 13 and Dan Andreas 11.  The Pirate Reserves also won, 46-40, with Glen Youngen and Mike Gerber getting 10 points apiece.
