66 - Port Washington Blasts Adamsville 74-50 (1-29-66)

Hoping for better things to cheer about in the few remaining games of the season are Port Washington's cheerleaders:  Jean McCune, Cathy Loader, Marsha Casteel, Jody Stemple, Mary Ann McCune and Terry Compton.

PORT WASHINGTON - That day off from the basketball wars must have done something to Port Washington's Purple Riders (4-8).  Friday night they stopped prolific scorer Dan Jinks and his Gnadenhutten teammates 66-55 in a league game.  They returned to action Saturday night and dumped Adamsville 74-50.  Port Washington will host Tuscarawas Friday, also a league game.

A 4-pronged attack paved the way for the George Thomas-coached Purple Riders Saturday against  Adamsville.  Jerry Stephens got 18 points, Jeff Huston 17 and Rich Fillman and Greg Bender 13 each.  Huston, 6-0 Freshman, pulled in 13 of Port Washington's 34 rebounds.  Adamsville snared 25.  The Purple Riders hiton 29 of 64 floor tries and were 16 of 23 from the foul lines.  Adamsville made 17 of 61 from the floor and 16 of 20 from the charity stripes.  The Adamsville Reserves; however, blasted the Port Washington Reserves, 42-27.
