PORT WASHINGTON - Baseball hopes will be placed squarely on 8 lettermen when the Purple Riders open their 1966 baseball season. Joseph Lopez again will pilot the Riders who will have the return services of 5 Seniors and 3 Juniors. Seniors returning are first baseman Rich Fillman, shortstop-pitcher Roger Lewis, catcher-thirdbaseman Dave Dickson, right fielder-catcher Russ Daugherty and left fielder Jim Steinbach. Junior returnees on this year's squad are second baseman Bob Sauerbrey, shortstop-pitcher Greg Bender and center fielder Bob Porter. Lopez reports that 15 athletes are out and that he expects a good season for the Riders.
