66 - Down The Line With Dan Kopp

DOVER - A Letter To the Editor.

As a Strasburg correspondent 14 years for the Daily Reporter and an ardent basketball fan may I reply to Conotton Valley's coach and Bowerston's correspondent regarding the officiating at last Saturday's game between these 2 schools.  I can't help but wonder if, after Strasburg's victory over Hiland Wednesday, those 2 feel the referees gave us that game.  What a difference in sportsmanship was shown by Hiland than by the Conotton Valley team, coach and fans!  I couldn't help but notice that, during both games, we Tiger fans stood alone with every other school cheering on the out-of-county teams...except the small number of Stone creek fans who respect our great coach, Charles Huggins.  How can any adult not feel pride that Tuscarawas County can turn out a superb basketball player like John Studer?  I can't help but feel sorry for referees who are cursed, hated and often have to be police escorted from a game they tried to officiate fairly.

Proud to be a Tiger fan.
Mrs. Arthur Strauss Jr.
