66 - Ridgewood Nips Gnadenhutten 2-1 (3-31-66)

WEST LAFAYETTE - Opening game jitters hindered the Gnadenhutten Indians (0-1) yesterday as they dropped a baseball decision to Ridgewood in a contest called after 6 innings.  Bill Kohl, last year's sparkplug for the Indians, started on the mound and walked in the 1st run as the 1st 4 men he faced took 4 balls apiece.  He was relieved by Steve Moore who struck out the 1st batter he faced before walking in the 2nd run.  Gnaden's lone run came in the 5th inning when Moore's double drove in Don Finnicum who had singled.  The loss was tagged on Kohl (0-1); although, he allowed only one hit after returning to the mound in the 2nd inning.  The Indians ended the day's chore with 6 hits, but it wasn't enough to overcome their poor beginning.  Ridgewood pitcher John Burd struck out 9.  Kohl had 5 strikeouts to his credit.
