66 - Gnadenhutten Wins Track Meet (4-13-12)










Francis Krantz of Gnadenhutten gets set to throw the shot put.  He won the event with a toss of 40 feet, 7.25 inches.


STRASBURG - Francis Krantz put on an outstanding show yesterday to lead Gnadenhutten to a track victory over Strasburg, Port Washington and Dover St. Joseph's.  Krantz captured 1st place in 3 events...the 100-Yard Dash, High Jump and Shot Put...and also was a member of the winning 880-Yard Relay team.  Teammate Mike Kail was 1st in the Broad Jump and 220-Yard Dash and also won on the winning 880-Yard Relay squad.  Strasburg's John Studer also was a double winner...in the hurdle events.  Mike (Boots) Fragasse has the distinction of getting St. Joseph's 1st "blue ribbon" in history, winning the pole vault at 9 feet, 6 inches.  This was the school's 1st meet.  Other firsts were by Bill Edwards of Port Washington, 2-Mile Run; Rich Fillman of Port, 1-Mile Run; Ed Yackey of Strasburg, 440-Yard Dash; Wayne Martin  of Gnadenhutten, 880-Yard Run; and Jeff Huston of Port, Discus.  Gnadenhutten also won the Mile Relay.
