66 - Garaway Wins Girls High School Track Meet (5-3-66)

First-Place winners in the High School Division included June Miller and Vicki Martin,both of Gnadenhutten.

Members of Garaway High's Championship Team are:  Janet Zeiner, Debbie Weiss, Jane Finzer, Sharon Young, Mollie Gerber, Elizabeth Regula, Cathy Miller, Lois Burky, Mardella Miller, Jennifer Zimmerman, Patty Johnson, girls' physical education instructor and Head Coach Fred Craigo.




UHRICHSVILLE - Garaway captured the high school county girls track title in Claymont Stadium yesterday.  The Pirate females were far ahead of the 7 team entries, compiling 51 points compared to 33 for runner-up Gnadenhutten.  Taking 2 Blue Ribbons in the competition was Janet Zeiner of Garaway who won the Baseball Throw at 199 feet, 5 inches and the Shot Put at 33 feet, 6 inches.  Garaway's teenagers won both relay events.  Cathy Miller, Mardella Miller, Sharon Young and Lois Burkey combined efforts for a 0:27.6 clocking in the 220-Yard Relay and Debbie Weiss, Miss Zeiner, Miss Young and Miss Miller were timed at 0:39.8 in the 300-Yard Shuttle Relay.
