67 - Tuscarawas Hands Dover St. Joseph's Their 16th Defeat 46-43 (2-10-67)

Dave Myers of Dover St. Joseph's Ramblers is after the basketball during the Ramblers' game with Tuscarawas last night.

DOVER - The clock and Tuscarawas (11-7) beat Dover St. Joseph's (1-16) last night by only 3 points, on a Rambler Mom's Night in the Dover gym.  St. Joseph's, down by 35-21 midway in  the 3rd quarter, then began its uphill struggle.  They came to within 2 points of the Broncos at 45-43 on a layup by Charlie Zito with 1:31 to play.  But, Butch Reed clinched the Bronco verdict with a foul shot at the 9 second mark.  The main factor in the Rambler comback was its defense which caused several Bronco turnovers and limited them to only 6 points.  Except for 2-0, 4-2 and 6-4 leads early in the initial period, the Ramblers never led, falling behind 13-8 and 28-21 after the first 16 minutes.  The  Broncos increased their halftime lead to 40-28 as 3rd quarter action ended.  Tuscarawas, which concluded regular season activity with 11 victories, was led in the scoring department by Brent Lehigh and Tracy Knisely who had 13 points apiece.  John Bihari followed with 11.  St. Joseph showed Denny Capozella and Tom  Bazzoli as leaders with 13 markers apiece.  The Broncos held a 32-31 rebounding edge over the Ramblers.  Bihari led Tuscarawas with 11, while Dave Myers totaled 9 for St. Joseph.  Tusky connected on 19 of 55 floor shots for 34.3 percent.  The Ramblers made 18 of 52 for 35.2 percent.  From the foul line, Tuscarawas was 8 of 18 and St. Joseph's 7 of 14.

In the Reserve game, the Tuscarawas Reserves upped their record to 13-5, while walking all over the Dover St. Joseph's Reserves 40-33.
