67 - Down The Line With Ed Smith

DOVER - New Philadelphia's Class A Tournament was declared a financial success by tournament manager W.E. Laws, whose last official public act was the presentation of the county league's "Coach of the Year" award to Strasburg Head Coach Charlie Huggins.  Rumors around the tourney hall indicate the new tournament manager may be New Philadelphian John Zion.  It's not a bad idea, considering his popularity and the fact he has handled previous tournaments.  Zion was applauded for his excellent handling of last year's AA tourney in the Quaker gym.

The army isn't after Gnadenhutten's Bill Kohl, but ask him why he left the playing floor so fast in the Garaway-Gnaden game and he will tell you it was to "evade the draft."  Don't worry, Bill, not more than 1500 fans were quick enough to notice your trunks had completely let loose in the back seam.

Before the Strasburg-Hiland game some wild fans already had the Hawks "caged" by the Tigers as they displayed a large chicken hawk in a pen.
