67 - Dennison St. Mary's and Conotton Valley Prevail In Sectional (2-15-67)







NEW PHILADELPHIA - Dennison St. Mary's one  of the finest scholastic combinations in Ohio, no matter which poll you watch, dynamited Midvale off the tournament trail, 75-36 last night.  The game, played before 1800-plus fans, completed upper bracket quarter final activity in the New Philadelphia Class A Sectional.  Conotton Valley's Rockets whipped past Malvern 67-51 to jump opposite the Blue Waves for a semis test next Tuesday night at 7:30.  As a result of its triumph, St. Mary's ranked 13th in the Associated Press Poll and 7th in United Press International, has a 17-2 record.  Conotton Valley is now 9-10, while Midvale and Malvern ended at 11-8 and 3-13, respectively.  Stepping into tonight's spotlight will be the undefeated Strasburg Tigers, 2nd ranked in Associated  Press and 1st in UPL.  The 18-0 Bengals tangle with Port Washington (11-7) at 7:30, while Tuscarawas (11-7) and Newcomerstown (3-15) tangle at 8:45.
