67 - Port Washington Rips Jewett 89-74 (2-4-67)






PORT WASHINGTON - The Purple Riders (11-6) tuned up for its final season game next Friday against Madison in trimming the Jewett Wildcats by 15 points.  Port held quarter leads of 18-15, 44-39 and 64-53 in ripping the Wildcats.  Leading the way for the Riders was Jeff Huston with 24 points and followed by Jerry Stephens, Tim Page and Jim Hagan with 23, 15 and 13.

Port Washington had trouble the 1st half as it led by only 4 and 5 ponts, but found the range and led by 10 and 15 in the 2nd quarter.  The Wildcats were paced by Randy Schultz with 25 and Nolan Harkins and Scott Samples with 14 and 13 in that order.  The Riders had good shooting as they hit on 55 percent of their action shots as compared to 38 by the Wildcats.  From the charity stripe the Riders were 15 of 26 and the Wildcats hit 10 of 16.

Hagan of the Riders and Harkins of Jewett battled for the rebounding department lead as Hagan gathered in 15 and Harkins 16.  In the offensive struggle Port had a bad night with 20 turnovers and the Wildcats had 16.

The Jewett Reserves picked up the win by a 4-point margin when they clipped the Port Washington Reserves (6-11) 36-32.
