67 - Strasburg And Hiland Post Romps (2-22-67)

NEW PHILADELPHIA - With completion of semi-final activity on 2 fronts last night the stage was set to determine the field for next week's Class A District Tournament at Steubenville.  Strasburg and Hiland jumped opposite each other in New Philadelphia's Sectional Co-Championship contest, which takes place Saturday night, when they won by big margins.  The Tigers, despite a lack-luster performance, wrapped up their 20th consecutive decision by defeating Tuscarawas 67-40.  It was Strasburg's 2nd nod over the Broncos this season with the previous encounter ending 70-40.  Tusky concluded play at 12-8.

Hiland had things even easier in whipping Jewett 89-60 to chalk up its 11th triumph in 22 outings.  Jewett finished at 8-12.  At Steubenville last night, Bridgeport (16-4) collides with Wayne (19-1) at 7:30 with the winner meeting the victor of New Philadelphia's Strasburg (20-0)-Hiland (11-11) game in District semi-final play.  At 9PM Mingo Junction (14-6) faces Mt. Pleasant (15-4).  The victor of that encounter will meet the winner of tonight's Dennison St. Mary's (18-2)-Garaway (17-3) game in the District opener at 8PM.
