67 - John Studer League's Most Valuable Player!

John Studer was selected Tuscarawas County Class A Basketball League's Most Valuable Player.  He was also the top scorer with 174 points.

DOVER - League champion Strasburg dominates the Annual Tuscarawas County Class A League Coach's All-Star Team, released to the press Saturday afternoon.  Topping the 4-man Tiger contingent is Most Valuable Player John Studer, an All-Ohioan last season and the league's leading scorer this year.  Studer popped in 174 points in 6 league contests for a 29.6 average.  He, along with teammate Ed Yackey and Gnadenhutten's Dan Jinks, the loop's 2nd top scorer, are the only repeaters from last year's all league combination.  Also selected from the undefeated Bengal squad were Charlie Jones and Ed Rusk.  Jinks is joined by teammate Bill Kohl as the Indians were the only other team to place more than one player on the team.  Rounding out the all-stars were:

Don Richardson, Garaway Pirates
Bob Carlisle, Midvale Blue Devils
Brent Lehigh, Tuscarawas Broncos
Greg Bender, Port Washington Purple Riders
Dick Harvey, Tuscarawas Valley Trojans

Jinks, in taking runner-up honors to Studer in league scoring, totaled 161 markers, a 26.8 average.  Carlisle was the loop's 3rd top marksman with 100 points.
