62 - Salem-Washington Teaching Assignments Are Listed


PORT WASHINGTON - The Salem-Washington School have announced faculty personnel for the coming year.  At the Washington Township School will be:  Mrs. Doris Baker, 1st; Marlene Baker, 2nd and 3rd; Mrs. Edra Hursey, 4th and 5th; and Vernon Powell, principal and 5th and 6th.  Port Washington teachers are:  Mrs. Mary Veley, 1st; Mrs. Dorothy Mehok, 2nd and 3rd; Mrs. June Stemple, 4th and 5th; Luther Lindon, 5th and 6th; Neil Compton, elementary principal Junior high coach and 7th grade teacher; George Thomas, assistant basketball coach, head track coach and 8th Grade; Mrs. Jeanne Palmer, commercial guidance and testing; Earl Leonhard, physical science, mathematics and general science; James Pfeiffer, English, library science, vocal and instrumental music; Charles Knight, english, mechancial drawing and industrial arts; Charles Harshbarger, spanish and  social studies; Donald Durham, head baseball and basketball coach, health, physical education and biology and Mrs. Janis Thomas,vocational home economics.  Pfeiffer also will serve as the district's elementary vocal music instructor.  Mrs. Mabel Gallagher is art instructor; Sally Passmore, hearing and  speech therapist; Mrs. Dorothy Spring, school nurse, and Mrs.Ruth Derickson, school secretary.

Bus routes will be similar to last year with the following drivers and routes; Luther Lindon and Neil Compton, No. 1; George Fillman, No. 2; Richard Bond, No. 3; Marvin  Hursey, No. 4; James Pfeiffer and Charles Knight, No. 5.  Richard Bond is theWashington Township School custodian, while the custodian at Port Washington is Lester West.  Board members are John Foust, president; J. William  Gray, vice president; Edward Dichler; Cyril McMullen, and Donald Casteel, and Mrs. Hattie Cunning, clerk.  John P. Toth Jr. will be starting his fifth year as executive head of the school district.
