61 - Midvale High Baseball And Track Squads



MIDVALE - Both of Midvale High School's Spring sports teams were slated to open their new seasons.  The baseballers, under Coach Pete Hillard, was postponed with Port Washington last Tuesday.  The track squad is looking forward to hosting Port Washington for their first meet.  A total of 7 letter winners of last year have returned for the baseball prospects.  They include outfielders Bob Byers, John Ashbaugh and Ralph Prize.  Infield positions will be occupied by Bill Kaderly and Warren Leggett and pitchers will be Jim Albaugh, Neal Beans and Mike Page.  Other candidates include Don Basquim, Jim Tidrick, TomMcPherson, Tom Mackey, Jim Anderson, Walt Weaver and  Don  Ickes.  A young team, only 3 of the 15 candidates are Seniors.  Only 3 lettermen are among 32 hopefuls for the track and field squad.  They include Seniors Warren Leggett in the 440 and relays and Pete Meese in dashes and relays.  Sophomore Bob Byers is also back for the dashes and hurdles.
