61 - Baltic Blanks Midvale 4-0 For County Baseball Title (5-3-61)

MIDVALE - "Leftie" Lautenschleger (6-1), the Eagles' strong-armed hurler, struck out 7 and walked only one Midvale (5-3) batsman for his third victory this week as Baltic stands as the new Champion of the Tuscarawas County Class "A" Baseball League, its first crown in nearly a decade.  Baltic (7-1) took a 2-0 lead in the third inning when Dick Gerber doubled, Dale Lautenschleger singled to score Gerber, and Willis Mullet smacked a single, scoring Lautenschleger.  In the fifth inning Dale Lautensleger reached base on a fileder's choice, stole second, scored on Mullet's double.  Mullet roared home on a 2-bag smash by Larry Lautenschleger to cap the Eagles' scoring.  Neal Beans (2-1) went the distance for Midvale, permitting 7 hits, striking out 3 and walking 3.  Tom Mackey's double was the Devils' big hit.  Baltic's Gerber proved to be a big cog in its championship drive, hitting successfully in 7 of 8 games.
