MIDVALE - Coach Pete Hilliard piloted his Midvale high cagers to an impressive 76-45 triumph against Augusta last night, opening the 1961-1962 campaign for the Blue Devils (1-0) and Hilliard's eighth season on a triumphant note. With 2-year veteran Neal Beans and Mike Page controlling the boards, the Devils exploded for a 19-4 first quarter advantage and then rolled on to a 40-14 and 62-25 leads. Beans paced the attack with 17 points and Rick Belknap chimed in with 10 markers, while a total of 12 players broke into the scoring column. Wes Crafford of Augusta took game laurels with 20 points. In the Reserve game, Midvale (1-0) slaughterd Augusta 71-26.
