61 - TV Romps Over Stone Creek 24-1 In 1st Tilt (4-19-61)



STONE CREEK - Defending District Class "A" Baseball Champion TuscarawasValley (1-0) made an auspicious debut yesterday when it romped to a 24-1 victory over host Stone Creek (0-3).  The Trojans collected 24 hits, including 4 extra-base blows.  Al Cerett led the uprising with 4 hits in 5 bats, spiced by a 2-bagger.  Also counting doubles were Ron Lake, John Solvey and Mike Widder.  Lake hurled the victory, working 5 innings before giving way to Widder for the final frame.  They combined efforts to strike out 13 and walk only 2, while limiting the Panthers to 3 hits.  Tom Burrier (0-1) was charged with the defeat.  He walked 14 and fanned 3.
