62 - Midvale Spanks West Lafayette 61-36 (11-24-11)

WEST LAFAYETTE - After a tight first half, the Midvale Blue Devils (2-0) turned on the steam after intermission to demote the West Lafayette Generals (0-1) Friday night.  It was the second straight victory of the young season for Coach Pete Hilliard's cagers.  It was the opening game of the year for the host hardwood crew.  The score was all tied, 13-13 at the end of the first period, but Midvale opened up an 8-point lead at the halfway mark.  The Devils tossed in 18 points in the third frame, while the Generals could manage only 5 and that was the ball game.  Nine Blue Devils got into the scoring column, paced by Dean DeMattio with 12 points and Bob Byers picked up 11 counters for the evening's workout.  Gary McElfresh tossed in 9 points to top losers.  In the Reserve game last night, Midvale (2-0) pulled out a 52-44 decision over West Lafayette (0-1).
