PORT WASHINGTON - In the Baltic (6-1) and Port Washington (2-3) battle, Larry Lautenschleger (5-1) was called in after the Riders had counted 2 tallies and had a man on base off the pitching of Baltic starter Jim Huprich (1-0), with no one out. Port counted 2 more runs before the uprising was quelled by Lautenschleger. The Baltic leftie proceeded to limit the Riders to 2 hits, struck out 12 and walked one, until the 7th inning when he was lifted in favor of Willis Mullet. Mullet fanned 3 and walked one in his brief stint. By the time Lautenschleger left, the game, the Eagles had the game well under control on the strength of 3 big final innings. Down 5-2 going into the fifth inning, Baltic rallied for 4 runs to go ahead by one. It added 5 markers in each of the 6th ad 7th innings. Dale Lutenschleger counted 2 doubles, Mullet 2 triples, Charles McPherson a double, Gary Mast a triple and 2 doubles and Jack Miller 2 singles for Baltic. Port used 5 pitchers in an effort to silence the hefty Baltic bats. Jim Bender (1-2) started, was relieved in the second by Tom Loader, while Ken Gay, Carl McMullen and Alvin Fillman followed.
