61 - Port Washington Scores 11-7 Win Over Stone Creek (4-11-61)

PORT WASHINGTON - Port Washington (1-0) opened its new baseball season on a triumphant note yesterday with a win over Stone Creek (0-2). Jim Bender (1-0) and Larry Laisure (0-0) hurled the Riders to victory, allowing 7 hits, while Ed Wallace (0-1) and Larry Stephon (0-0) shared the hill for Stone Creek, giving up 11 hits. Bender and Bill Phillips each banged out a double for Port,, while Jim Billman and Bob Hamilton had 2 hits each for the Panthers.
