61 - Baltic Downs Garaway 6-1 (4-7-61)

SUGARCREEK - Southpaw Larry Lautenschleger (1-0) breezed strike out pitches past 17 Garaway High batsmen yesterday at Community Park as the Baltic Eagles (1-0) scored a victory over the Pirates (0-1).  Lautenschleger limited the Bucs to 4 hits, one a triple by Dan Bleininger, and walked only 3 in a stint that had the earmarkings of mid-season form.  The Eagles moved in to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a single by Jim Huprich and 2 errors by the Pirates.  In the third frame Charles McPherson doubled with a man on to score another marker.  Willis Mullet unleashed a triple with 2 men on base to account for 2 more Baltic runs in the fourth frame.  Garaway's lone tally came in the  fourth inning when Bleininger's 3-bagger scored Andreas, who reached base on a walk.  Bleininger started for Garaway and was relieved in the fifth inning by Tom Andreas.  They combined to permit 6 hits, strike out 10 and walk 5.
