64 - Garaway Squeaks By Tusky 7-6 (5-11-64)
Tuscarawas High School (Broncos) Senior Batsman - Phil Caldwell (Triple)
SUGARCREEK - Garaway (5-0) (6-1) retained its Tuscarawas County Class A Baseball League lead here Monday, battling back to down Tuscarawas (4-2) (4-3) in 9 innings. The Pirates "spotted" the Broncos 5 runs in the 1st frame, 4 of them unearned, but fought back to get 5 of their own in the 6th and another in the 7th after Tuscarawas had gone ahead in the seventh. Bill Richardson, who drove in the equalizer in the 7th, sent home the winning marker in the 9th. Jim Wheeler, who had singled, scored. Wheeler (2-2) started for Garaway, but gave way to victor Larry Milligen (3-0) in the first. The pair gave up 7 hits, walked 3 and fanned eight. Jeff Maxwell (1-2), the 3rd Bronco hurler, was the loser. McWilliams and Reed also saw mound duty. The trio was reached for 10 safeties, passed 1 and fanned eight. Phil Caldwell of Tuscarawas had the only extra base hit of the game---a triple.
