64 - Garaway Hammers Port Washington 7-2 (5-5-64)




PORT WASHINGTON - Garaway (3-0) (4-1) pinned a loss on Port Washington (0-2) (0-3) here Monday in a Tuscarawas County Class A League baseball contest.  Larry Milligan (2-0) was the winner, allowing 7 hits, walking 5 and striking out six.  Don Metzger (0-1) was the loser, getting help from Steve Bender.  The pair was touched for 10 safeties and fanned 4.  Tim Sstevanus cracked out a 3-run Home Run for Garaway.  Jim Bates had a double for Port Washington.

Ed Bates, former cage star at Port Washington, who broke most all records there during 1955-56-57, has reportedly signed as head basketball coach at Caldwell High School in April of this year.
