64 - Strasburg Slams Dover St. Joseph's 8-3 (4-14-64)

STRASBURG - Dover St. Joseph's (0-1) became Strasburg High's 3rd consecutive victim by falling here Tuesday evening.  The Tigers  of Coach Pete Angelo (3-0) plated 5 runs in the initial inning and coasted, adding 1 in the 2nd and 2 in the sixth.  Art Teynor's Ramblers were not able to get anything going until the 5th when they tallied twice.  Another run went into the Rambler ledger in the sixth.  This marked the first 1964 outing for St. Joseph's.  Bob Mills (2-0) started for the Tigers, but gave way to Ron Lab (1-0) in the fourth.  The duo allowed 5 hits, walked 12 and struck out 7.  Sophomore Mickey McCracken (0-1) began for the Ramblers, but was plagued by wildness and was relieved by Senior Don Lamonica (0-0) in the fourth.  The 2 were touched for just 3 safeties, issued 6 free passes and fanned 8.  McCracken got into trouble right off, passing the first 3 batters he faced and hitting the next.  A single by Tom Dreher, an error, and a safety by Don Gerber accounted for the 5 runs.  Tony Zito and Ron Rieger slapped back-to-back doubles for the Ramblers in the 5th and John Tecco followed with a single as they put 2 runs in the book.  Rieger was hit by a pitch in the 6th and eventually rode home on a single by Steve Bazzoli.  Lab had a 2-basehit to aid his own cause.
