64 - Garaway Slams Baltic 80-40 (2-13-64)

NEW PHILADELPHIA - Glenn Syder's Pirates (12-7) simply had too much of everything for Stanley Berkman's Eagles (0-19).  With sharp-shooting Don Deetz leading the way Garaway spurted to a 26-11 advantage at the 1st stop and was in front 48-18 at the half when Snyder yanked Deetz and Randy Miller, both All-League choices.  The Pirate Reserves found the going to their liking, too, hiking the margin to 70-30 after 3 quarters.  Snyder then benched starters Dan Andreas and John Spear along with top-flight substitute Tim Stevanus.  Baltic, although completely outclassed, hustled throughout and worked inside the Pirate defense on several occasions.  But, even when the Eagles did get in close they were unable to find the range.  Deetz took scoring honors for the game, getting 16 in the 2 quarters he played.  Randy Miller added 15 during his stint.  Dan Andreas and John Spear had 13 and 10 respectively.  Jim Young, a regular all season for Garaway, but hampered by a leg injury, played briefly in the 3rd frame.  Keith Miller was high point-maker for Baltic with 14.  Garaway fired in 31 of 77 action shots.  Baltic found the range just 12 times in 43 tries.
