STRASBURG - Dick Ronald's Broncos (3-5) (8-9) put up a gallant "buck" for 2 quarters against Bob Shahan's touted Tigers (7-1) (16-1). But, several fast breaks off missed shots in the 3rd period enabled the state-ranked Bengals to end on top. The Tigers, who'll end season play tonight by seeking revenge over Garaway, hit on 40 of 72 action shots for a hot 52 percent. They made 12 of 23 charities. Tuscarawas canned 27 of 79 floor flings and sank 11 of 24 from the foul lines. All-Ohio candidate John Peters and Vic Gessner led the Tigers in scoring with 22 points each. This is a season high for Gessner. Rock Van Fossen added 19 tallies. Don Wallick and Rick Hall both got 13. High for Tuscarawas was Russ McGlothlin who had 23. Phil Caldwell got 18 and Roger Knisely 11. Strasburg indeed will be seeking to really thump Garaway, for it was the Pirates who handed the Tigers their only blemish in 17 outings. The score was 60-45. The game was played at Sugarcreek January 17. The mighty Strasburg Reserves (15-2) handed the Tusky Reserves (13-3) their hat with a 56-45 victory.
