64 - Tusky Valley Beats Back Port Washington 57-51 (2-7-64)
ZOARVILLE - It took a full effort by the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans (6-2) (9-8) to turn back the stubborn Purple Riders of Port Washington (2-6) (4-12). Port outgoaled the hosts, Trojans, by one goal as they lost at the foul line. TV capitalized on their 25 foul attempts to hit on 17 for a respectasble 68 percent, while Port had only 15 opportunities from the foul line and hit 9 for 60 percent. Both clubs shot well from the field, hitting 42 percent. TV hit on 20 of 48, while Port made 21 of 50. Gary Ferren and Paul Shipbaugh shared point-making honors for Tuscarawas Valley, both getting 13. Leonard Cameron had 14 and Jim Bates 12 for Port Washington. TuscarawasValley ended on top of a see-saw 1st frame 14-11. At the half the count was knotted 27-27. The Trojans went ashead to stay early in the 3rd period, ending in front 42-37 at the halt. In the Reserve game, Tuscarawas Valley (7-9) slipped by Port Washington (6-8) 40-36.
