Midvale experienced little trouble in annexing its fifth straight Tuscarawas County high school boys track and field title Saturday morning and afternoon in Uhrichsville Stadium.  The  Blue Devils rolled to 77 1/2 points.  Second place Tuscarawas Valley was closest competitor with 58 1/2.  Other final results in the high school division were:  Gnadenhutten 27, Strasburg 15 1/2, Stone Creek and Port Washington 11, and  Garaway 9 1/2.  Tuscarawas and Baltic did not enter teams.  In the grade school division Midvale took a surprise first place, scoring 60 1/3 points to Gnadenhutten 56 1/3 points.  Garaway finished third in  the grade class with 20 1/2 points.  Ragersville scored 19 1/2, Strasburg 18 1/2, Tusky Valley 13 and Dundee (unknown).  As the boys completed their action, meet director Pete Hilliard revealed an error in scoring in the grade school girls meet which was conducted Thursday.  It resulted in a first-place tie between Garaway and Midvale which had 17 1/2 points apiece.  Garaway had been declared champion Thursday.  Three meet records, all in  the grade boys division were set Saturday.  John Spear of Garaway snapped his own record in the low hurdles with a 16.8 clocking, nearly a second better than the former mark of 17.5 seconds.  Lonnard Fox of Midvale turned in a 2:20:89 reading in the half mile to eclipse the old mark set by Vic Gessner of Strasburg last year.  Gessner's record was 2:29.4.  Strasburg's 880-yard relay team,  comprised  of Dale Dayton, Don  Wallick, Jim Peters and Jim Mizer turned in a record time of 1:54.5, surpassing Ragersville's 1:54.9 set last year.  Clarence Cantrill of Tuscarawas Valley and Dick Housel of Midvale stole the spotlight in the high school division.  Cantrill took both his specialties the 100 and 220-yard dashes and added a blue ribbon in the broad jump.  He also finished second in the low hurdles for 22 points, the top individual total of the day.  Housel scored 21 points, winning both hurdles and the high jump.  Coach Burt Beaber's squad racked up 8 first place finishes.  Tusky Valley took 3, all by Cantrill.
