PORT WASHINGTON - Jim Bender's fine one-hitter led the Purple Riders (2-1) over Baltic (1-2). Port Washington had beaten Stone Creek (0-3) earlier in a game not reported by The Daily Reporter. Larry Lautenschleger (0-2) went the route for Baltic, allowing 5 hits with each hurler issuing four walks. Tony Nigro and Tom Loader led the combine of Coach Dick King with 2 hits each with Bender chiming in with a single. The winning run came after Nigro had singled home Bender.
