61 - County Cage Season Gains Momentum (11-19-60)


The 1960 basketball season continues to pick up momentum next week as it gets set to orbit for the next 4 months.  A total of 7 games are scheduled, 4 on Tuesday night, one  Friday and 2 Saturday.  Joining county teams Garaway, Baltic and Stone Creek, who opened their season last night will be the Midvale Blue Devils, Port Washington Purple Riders and Gnadenhutten Indians.  The Blue Devils, coached once again by Pete Hilliard, launch their season Tuesday by entertaining  the Augusta Blue Devils.  Coach Dick King begins his 2nd season Tuesday when Port Washington travels to Gnadenhutten where Ron Sakola is beginning his first year after assisting at New Philadelphia the past severl years.  Also on the basketball agenda Tuesday is Garaway at Stone Creek and Adamsville at Baltic.  Friday West Lafayette is at Midvale, while Saturday Stone Creek travels to Baltic and Port Washington to Malvern.
