61 - Tom Andreas Leads Pirates As They Cruise Over Panthers 13-6 (9-20-60)

SUGARCREEK - Tom Andreas smashed 2 triples in the first inning, driving in 6 runs to lead Garaway High's Pirates (3-1) (3-2) to victory over Stone Creek (0-4) yesterday.  The Pirates, paced by Tom Andreas scored 9 runs in the first inning off Panther hurler Gale Sauser (0-1).  Andreas, now has hit successfully in his last 7 times at bat, having collected 3 straight hits against Gnadenhutten last week.  He has driven in at least 11 runs with his hard-hitting play.  Bob Raber (2-0) started on the mound for Garaway, but had to be lifted in favor of Tom Andreas (1-1) in the fifth inning when the Panthers came alive by scoring 5 runs.  Andreas came in with one man out, got the first man to hit a bounder to the infield and fanned the final batter.  The 2 combined for 12 strikeouts and walked 8.  Sauser was relieved by Larry Stephon (0-0) and they walked 5, while striking out 2.  Garaway will travel to Hiland Wednesday for another non-league encounter.
