60 - Broncos Go District With 5-4 Win Over Warsaw (5-5-60)
Tuscarawas (8-1) joined Tuscarawas Valley (8-1) in the District Tournament when they took Sectional victories yesterday at Community Park in Sugarcreek. Tusky edged Coshocton County's Warsaw. Gary Caviness (3-0) started for Tuscarawas yesterday, but was tagged for 3 runs in the third frame by Warsaw and Floyd Smith (1-0) took over with none out for the win. The Broncos combined for 7 strikeouts and 3 walks. The Broncos scored the game-winning run in the last inning when Charles McCahill singled (2) to drive in Bill Shupp who had been hit by a pitched ball. George Vesco hit his first Home Run of the year to drive in 2 runs for Tusky in the 6th inning. Rodehaver went the distance on the mound for Warsaw, fanning 13 and walking 3 and permitting 4 hits. Davis had the only extra base hit.
