61 - Gnaden Gains County Crown With 6-3 Win At Port (10-7-60)

PORT WASHINGTON - The Gnadenhutten Indians (6-1) reigned today as the county champions of the Fall Baseball League as they wrapped up victory No. 6 on Thursday. Althugh they still have one game remaining the Indians have clinched the title, beating Port Washington (3-4). Dave Struchen (2-0) started for Gnaden and was relieved by Joh Rauzi (3-0) after giving up all 3 Port runs in the first inning. Rauzi blanked Port the remainder of the way and permitted only 2 hits. Larry Laisure (1-1) and Jim Bender (1-3) hurled for Port, allowing 8 hits, while walking 4 and fanning 5. Gnaden hurlers allowed 3 walks and fanned 9, while giving up 5 hits. Jim Bender had a double and Gary Gay a triple for Port, while Gary Conaway led Gnaden with 3 hits in as many trips with Dick Shull adding 2 hits. Coach Ted Martin will take his Indians to Baltic Monday in the seaso finale (This game was not necessary and was either not played or not reported by The Daily Reporter). Port Washington has one game left in the season which will be against the Stone Creek Panthers.
