The Tuscarawas County High School Baseball League will begin its annual tournament Monday to decide two of its three representatives to next spring's state sectional meet. Eight of the league's schools which do not field football teams will take part in the tournament, under the direction of Baltic Supt. of Schools Clarence Troyer.

THE WINNER and runner-up of the double-elimination tourney's championship bracket will automatically earn berths for the sectional while this fall's consolation victor will compete with Strasburg, Tuscarawas and Midvale to determine the third berth next spring. Four games are on tap for Monday with Sugarcreek-Shanesville meeting Port Washington at Baltic, Stone Creek tangling with Mineral City at Bolivar, Baltic and Bolivar colliding at Sugarcreek-Shanesville and Gnadenhutten hosting Dundee. The winners of the first games will tangle on Sept. 23 while the champlionship finals are slated to be staged Sept. 28. No definite arrangement was announced for the consolation bracket beyond the fact that the two losers in the Sugarcreek-Shanesville-Port Washington and Stone Creek-Mineral City will meet and the losers of the Bolivar-Baltic and Gnaden-Dundee clash Sept. 23.

ALL GAMES are to be played on neutral fields unless otherwise agreed upon by the coaches involved. The school on whose diamond a game is scheduled is required to furnish umpires for that contest. Sugarcreek-Shanesville is the defending champion while Baltic is last year's runner-up. Stone Creek won last fall's consolation joust, but lost out to Strasburg in the spring eliminations.
