Bengals Roar In Halting Port Win Skein 88-53 (11-24-54)
The Strasburg (1-0) quintet, making its debut under the tutelage of Coach Ken Newlon, steepled off on the right foot with a super-charged attack paced by the three big sparkplugs held over from last season. Jerry Von Kaenel, Jerry Haswell and Jim Kuecher accounted for 64 of the 88 points themselves as they displayed the form typical of Strasburg powerhouses in recent seasons. Van Kaenel racked up 24 points and Haswell and Keucher each added 20 as the Tigers halted Port's win skein at two. The Tigers clawed the Riders down in their own corral by taking an early lead and holding a sizeable edge all the way. Bob Welsch and Vernon Glazer each had 15 points to lead the Port Washington (0-1) (2-1) attack. It was a sweep for Strasburg in the Reserve game 42-29.
