Strasburg, Midvale Clash For County League Title (2-10-55)


Strasburg's Tigers, boasting the only unmarred County League record, will seek to wrap up their third straight undefeated circuit title when they invade the territory of the Midvale Blue Devils Friday night. The Strasburg-Midvale clash will highlight the County League's final round of action as the teams set their sights on tournament laurels in the 33rd annual carnival which takes place starting Tuesday in Memorial Hall here.

THE BENGALS, who have suffered non-league losses at the hands of West Lafayette 76-73 and Sandy Valley 68-57, defeated Midvale 73-53 in a none-league encounter earlier in the campaign. Midvale's circuit record is 8-1 with the lone defeat administered by Stone Creek's Panthers 82-62. The Blue Devils have a 14-5 overall record and have captured victories in their last five consecutive outings.

PORT WASHINGTON, claimant of a 6-3 league mark, will clash with Tuscarawas' Broncos who possess a 5-3 circuit record in the other top game in the final round. The Purple Riders have a 14-5 season's record while Tusky has an 11-5 overall mark. Baltic (14-5) is at Mineral City (4-14), Gnaden (10-11) is at Bolivar (3-15) and Dundee (4-14) will play at Stone Creek (13-7) in other league games. Sugarcreek-Shanesville (10-9) closes out the season at Berlin.
