Class B Semi-Finals On Tap For Thursday (2-24-54)

The curtain goes up on the second round of the Tuscasrawas County Class B basketball tournament at Memorial Hall here Thursday with the top four teams clashing in semi-finals contests while an interesting match involving some deadeye marksmen will get the proceedings underway in the preliminary game.

SUGARCREEK-SHANESVILLE'S PIRATES tangle with Gnadenhutten's Indians in the opener at 6:30pm while Tuscarawas and Baltic meet in the upper-bracket semi-finals tussle while undefeated Strasburg runs into Port Washington in the nightcap for the right to advance to the finals from the lower bracket. Coach Don Martin's Strasburg crew will have their guards up for an expected tough fight from the Purple Riders, who came from a low spot early in the season to finish in a deadlock with Baltic for third place.

TUSCARAWAS and Baltic will be matched equally in the height department with the Eagles seeking to revenge an overwhelming defeat at the hands of the Broncos in the final game of the season. Doors will be opened at 5:30 with seats being sold on a first come, first served basis. Thursday's games are expected to shoot the record crowd mark even higher with the present count setting this year's total for four games up 600 from last season.
